JÁNOS NÉGYESY - violin interpreter of new music, computer artist, poet, and guest producer of the album Will Ogdon: Compositions (1995-1999) for Old King Cole Productions - is currently on the faculty of the University of California, San Diego. Négyesy performs on several of the pieces on Will Ogdon's CD, including the Violin Suite for solo violin. | |
Négyesy was born in Budapest, Hungary, and studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and later at Detmold, Germany. Between 1970 and 1974 he was concert master of the Berlin Radio Orchestra. He gave the world premiere of John Cage's Freeman Études in Italy, which he later recorded . He has also received acclaim for his expertise as master of the Matthews electronic violin. JÁnos passed away 2 months after Will Ogdon, December 20, 2013. |

A double-CD of Négyesy's performance of the complete Freeman Études by Cage is recorded on the Newport Classics label. A Dedications album of solo works written for him was recorded by Neuma Records. With violinist Päivikki Nykter, he has recorded the entire Bartók Duos for Two Violins for the Neuma label. János Négyesy also appears on Mark Osborn's Interregna CD available from Old King Cole Productions. |
